Librarian, researcher, and pizza lover.
Hello! I'm Heather McTavish (she/her), an information professional and a recent Masters of Arts graduate of the Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University. I focused my inquiry on the online instructional practices of academic librarians, which was fitting since the program is conducted completely online. Very meta!
I am also a graduate of the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto, where I specialized in both libraries and archives. Since graduating, I have had the pleasure of working in many different capacities within the information field. I currently work at the Toronto District School Board, and I am a passionate supporter of the essential work of school librarians and the library's role in supporting student and faculty learning. I am interested in helping to bridge information and digital literacy gaps between secondary and post-secondary education and online learning in libraries. Recently, I was a teaching assistant in the online Bachelor of Arts in Education and Digital Technology program at Ontario Tech University, supporting students and helping to guide their learning. I learned just as much from them as they did from me :) I'm also headed back to grad school soon to pursue doctoral studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in education. |
